Constance CASTRES SAINT-MARTIN

Associate

Constance Castres Saint-Martin is a member of the Paris Bar and holds a Ph.D. in Law and an LL.M. in International Business Law. She joined Teynier Pic as an associate in March 2022. She is experienced in international arbitration before various arbitral institutions (ICC, ICSID, DIAC). She acts in a wide range of sectors, such as commodities, renewable energy and international trade. She is also in charge of disputes relating to the recognition, enforcement and setting aside of arbitral awards. As an expert in ICC arbitration, she provides on a daily basis strategic and financial advice in ICC arbitration cases.

Constance started her career in 2015 as an associate of an Avocat aux Conseils, a special class of qualified lawyers entitled to plead before the Supreme Courts of the French judicial and administrative systems. Then, she joined the ICC as a Deputy Counsel at the Secretariat of the International Court of Arbitration where she supervised around one hundred arbitrations with a particular focus on Africa. Constance is also a member of the Arbitrator Selection Committee of the Mauritius International Arbitration Centre and is on the list of arbitrators of the Paris Mediation and Arbitration Centre.

  • Representing a Turkish investor against the State of Libya in recognition and enforcement proceedings in Turkey and Libya of an arbitral award issued in an arbitration related to the termination of two large-scale infrastructure projects in Libya and, more generally, losses caused by the Arab Spring, in breach of the Bilateral Investment Treaty between the Republic of Turkey and Libya.
  • Representing a Lebanese businessman in the negotiation and drafting of a Settlement Agreement relating to the enforcement of an ICC award issued without his participation.
  • Representing a Lebanese franchisor against two Qatari franchisees in a DIAC arbitration concerning the performance and termination of a franchise agreement, the non-payment of royalties and the application of a non-compete clause.
  • Representing a Central African State in two ICSID and two ICC arbitrations against four Anglo-Saxon mining companies, concerning the revocation of a licence for an Iron Ore Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Representing a Lebanese company against an American hotel Group in the request for revision of two ICC awards deciding on the termination of a management contract related to the opening of a hotel complex in Lebanon.
  • Representing a French company specialised in the cereal and flour processing against Belgian contractors relating to the malfunction of a hot air generator in an industrial mill in France.
  • Representing an Indian company against French insurance company and insurance broker, in a commercial dispute relating to the insurance on the delivery of thousands of cocoa beans bags from the Ivory Coast to India.
