DISPUTE RESOLUTION BOUTIQUE

SARA NADEAU-SEGUIN joins TEYNIER PIC as Counsel

After practicing in the international arbitration departments of North American firms for ten years (Woods in Montreal, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Baker Botts in London and Paris), Sara Nadeau-Seguin joins Teynier Pic as counsel.

Sara specialises in international arbitration (commercial and investment).  She has acted as counsel in numerous arbitration proceedings relating to the fields of energy, mining, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and construction in both ad hoc and institutional proceedings (ICC, LCIA, SCC, ICSID, UNCITRAL).  In addition to her experience of contentious matters, Sara also regularly advises clients in relation to pre-contentious matters, including for the negotiation and drafting of dispute resolution agreements, as well as in commercial litigation proceedings before domestic state courts, particularly in Canada.

She has authored many publications on arbitration and is regularly invited to give conferences on the topic.  She sits on the editorial board of the ICC Bulletin and the newsletter published by the ADR Institute of Canada.  Sara has taught commercial arbitration at Queen Mary University (London) and trial advocacy at McGill University (Montréal).  Since 2017, Sara is listed amongst the Who’s Who Legal Future Leaders in international arbitration.  WWL says: “Sara Nadeau-Séguin comes highly recommended as ‘a strong advocate’ in arbitration proceedings, who ‘approaches each issue thoughtfully’ and demonstrates ‘excellent communication of very complex issues and arguments’.”

A Canadian national and 34 years old, Sara graduated with great distinction from McGill University in 2007 (magna cum laude), with a double degree in common law and civil law.  She was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 2008 before completing an LL.M. specialised in international business law at the London School of Economics in 2009 (also with honours (magna cum laude)).  Sara is admitted to practice in England and Wales since 2012 and in Paris since 2016. She is perfectly bilingual in French and English and speaks Spanish and Italian.

According to Pierre Pic, co-founder of TEYNIER PIC: “Sara’s hire comes after Raphaël Kaminsky and Shaparak Saleh joined us as partners, in 2017 and 2018 respectively, and six months after Anne-Sophie Tonin was promoted to counsel.  There is a wind of change blowing over the firm, with arrivals and promotions of a new generation of talented lawyers who share the firm’s values of excellence, rigour and fellowship!”

Shaparak Saleh, also a partner at TEYNIER PIC, says: “Thanks to the experience she gained in leading firms in London, Montreal and Paris, Sara brings to our team her expertise, her open-mindedness as well as her knowledge of the London and North American markets.  Over the past three years, Teynier Pic has reinforced its international presence and has promoted women to senior positions, two developments that reflect the reality of our modern-day world.”

Sara adds: “I am extremely proud to be joining Teynier Pic’s dynamic and expanding team.  I knew the firm for its excellent reputation in international arbitration on the French and European markets and I am excited to work towards its expansion beyond these boundaries.  It also quickly became clear to me that we shared the same work ethic and the same values.”
